Matthew Perry is a seasoned litigator at Boohoff Law dedicated to pursuing justice for those who have suffered due to negligence. Matt’s legal journey has been marked by a commitment to excellence and a passion for making a difference.

Matt earned his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, where he not only excelled academically but also contributed an insightful article to the Stetson Law Quarterly. His commitment to legal scholarship reflects his deep understanding of the law and its implications.

As an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin, Matt graduated cum laude in Letters and Science, majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science. His diverse educational background laid the foundation for a comprehensive approach to the practice of law.

Matt’s legal career spans over two decades, with a significant portion spent as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) at the United States Department of Justice, United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) in Tampa, FL. His roles at the Civil and Criminal Divisions showcased his versatility, whether prosecuting major crimes or handling complex lawsuits brought against the U.S. government, including employment discrimination, civil rights, medical malpractice, and more.

In the Executive Division of USAO headquarters, Matt served as a Senior Litigation Counsel, earning the trust of executive leaders. His responsibilities included acting as the district’s Ethics Advisor, Coronavirus Fraud Coordinator, and Discovery Coordinator, highlighting his ability to navigate intricate legal landscapes.

Matt’s dedication also extended to his role as a Reviewer in the Panama Express Strike Force, focusing on disrupting international drug cartels. His management skills were evident as he reviewed legal documents for accuracy, provided valuable feedback, and prosecuted cases while mentoring other AUSAs.

Matt’s exceptional contributions have not gone unnoticed. He received the Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant United States Attorney and the Director’s Award for  Outstanding Achievement in the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, both from the United States Department of Justice, and the Distinguished Public Service Award from the United States Coast Guard, among various other accolades from federal and local law enforcement authorities recognizing his outstanding service.

Matt is not just a litigator. Beyond his legal practice, Matt has served as an Adjunct Professor at Stetson University College of Law, contributing to the next generation of legal minds. His involvement and leadership in other professional and community organizations reflects his commitment to both the legal profession and the community.  Matt also served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender and is a former police officer.

Matt is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the State of Florida, the Supreme Court of the State of Wisconsin, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Middle District of Florida and Western District of Wisconsin.
